Things are moving very rapidly in the world of public sector procurement. There is now urgency in many places to make things happen quickly and for procurement teams to look at producing double digit cashable savings rather than the silly 2% and 3% requested of them in recent years.
This has created a need to find a fast mechanism to get stories, information and messages to a broad audience, including our many customers, associates and friends. The website and blog have been traditionally the way to do this. However, after a very detailed look and analysis by a leading corporate communications expert, I am convinced that Twitter offers a better route. Like many, I have always taken the view that this was for attention seekers and people with a highly inflated ego. However, looking closer it is also a superb mechanism for getting targeted messages to people very quickly.
So here it is. If you are already on Twitter and want to hear more on procurement, particularly in the UK public sector, from yours truly then start following spsken. If you are not on Twitter and want to join go to:

I will still be ‘telling it as it is’ but also commenting on the news each day. The SPS website will also be updated to support the latest in communications techniques.
