For many people, gaining better deals from ICT expenditure is now about using e-Auctions or outsourcing to an ICT partner. In reality, these opportunities are often time limited or short term. For over five years SPS, with its partners, has been running two training programmes looking at the purchasing decisions and project management issues that can make a positive difference to cost reduction, the quality of services delivered and the relationships with any outsource providers and consultants.
A recent programme was run on site at Harlow District Council for nine of the Essex local authorities. The programme helped them look at options appraisal and business case development as well as learn the techniques used by ICT suppliers to increase your costs and their margins. These programmes can be run in-house for up to 16 delegates and come complete with detailed handouts. They are highly suitable for a range of disciplines beyond procurement including, IT, finance, audit and performance.
You can also download a recent white paper Leveraging ICT Hardware (PDF 228kb) written for the London Centre of Excellence by Ken Cole and business analyst Alex Ranson.
